Special Educational Needs
Inclusive education at HIBS
We believe every child can learn, grow and succeed. Our SEN provision ensures that learners with different educational needs receive timely, thoughtful and personalised support.

Our SEN approach
Support built around the child
At Heirs International British School, inclusion is not an afterthought. It shapes how we plan lessons, arrange classrooms and partner with families. We recognise that children learn in different ways and at different rates, and we are committed to removing barriers to learning.
Our approach combines early identification, individual learning support plans, in-class strategies, focused literacy and numeracy interventions, regular progress monitoring and close collaboration with parents.
When additional expertise is needed, we refer families to qualified specialists such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists. A child’s needs are never a reason to lower expectations — we find the right path to help them flourish.

Working with parents
Partnership from day one
Parents and carers are the most important partners in a child’s learning journey. We keep the lines of communication open through termly reviews, parent meetings, home-school targets and clear reports on progress.
We also run workshops and share practical strategies so families can reinforce key skills at home. Whether a child has a diagnosed need or is simply finding a particular area challenging, we listen, respond and plan together.
Early identification & assessment
Spotting needs early
Early support is the most effective support. Our teachers and learning support staff use classroom observations, assessments and screening tools to identify children who may benefit from extra help.
We always consider parental insight, medical information and previous school records. Once a need is identified, we agree on a plan of support, set measurable targets and review progress regularly with families.
Our commitment to every child
Every learner is known, valued and supported
No child is left behind at HIBS. We celebrate progress of every kind, believe in high expectations for all, and invest in the people, training and resources that make inclusive education possible.
