Our approach

A nurturing start to school life

Early years learning here follows the British Early Years Foundation Stage alongside the Nigerian curriculum, so children develop academically and socially at the same time.

  • Systematic phonics and daily story time
  • Early numeracy through practical, hands-on activities
  • Speech, language and confidence building
  • Purpose-built early years spaces and safe outdoor play
  • Small groups so every child is known by name

Stages

Creche, pre-nursery, nursery and Reception

Creche & Pre-Nursery

A gentle, secure start for our youngest learners, with routines that build speech, confidence and independence through guided play.

Nursery

Structured early learning in phonics, early number, fine motor skills and social play, following the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Reception

The bridge into primary school — reading, early writing, number work and the learning habits Year 1 depends on.

Exact age requirements for each early years class are confirmed by our admissions team. See all classes and age groups.

Early childhood development

What your child gains in our nursery

Parents in Abuja often ask what a nursery day actually looks like. Here is what we focus on with pre-nursery and nursery children.

Learning through play

Guided play, songs, sand and water play and role play, so learning feels natural and children stay curious.

Early literacy

Systematic phonics, letter sounds, daily story time and pre-writing skills that build towards reading.

Early numeracy

Counting, sorting, shapes, patterns and simple number work using real objects children can handle.

Creativity

Art, craft, music and movement give children many ways to express what they think and feel.

Social development

Sharing, taking turns, listening and resolving small conflicts kindly with a teacher close by.

Confidence building

Speaking in front of the class, choosing activities and managing small tasks independently.

By the end of Reception, our aim is school readiness: a child who can listen, follow routines, hold a pencil well, recognise sounds and numbers, and walk into primary school in Abuja with confidence.
